  1. General
    1. What is Esquina Norte?
    2. Esquina Norte, the main independent design conference in Mexico, is a series of conferences and practical workshops celebrated every fall in Tijuana since 2001. This international event is possible thanks to a reduced group of students and professionals that in a committed and responsible manner have created a forum of inspiration for more than 4500 students. After nine successful editions, year after year it has turned into a wide multidisciplinary community that promotes diallogue through the group effort with international known creators within a unique atmosphere.

    3. How did Esquina Norte emerge?
    4. While Jhoana Mora was studying Graphic Design at Universidad Iberoamericana in Tijuana, she got involved with a group of students and professionals with the support of AIGA San Diego, they were planning the first chapter of AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts) outside the United States: the Baja chapter. They were able to carry out several design presentations and magazines for several years, at that time, Jhoana was already in charge of Communication and Public Relations. By the year 2000, they organized a design conference named "Doble Sentido" in Ensenada, Mexico, with the participation of David Carson, Ricardo Álvarez, the mexican magazine Matiz, the Fakir Collective, the illustrator Rafael López, among others. A second conference was planned but due to economic losses it was decided not to continue with the project. Nevertheless, having confirmed some of the main speakers like Ken Cato, Lance Wyman and Reyes Santana, Jhoana decided to continue the event on her own and after four months of exhaustive work, Esquina Norte was born with a series of conferences and practical workshops celebrated on fall 2001 in Tijuana; and since then it's been carried out once a year.
